Egyptian Defense Department Building
1005 26th Street NW, Washington, DC
The Egyptian military office was listed at 2590 L Street NW in the State Department’s August 2013 diplomatic directory. A federal court later identified that address and 1005 26th Street NW as the same building after an address change by the District of Columbia. [1] [2]
In July 2014, Egypt’s Department of Defense signed a commercial lease allowing a private operator to run a hotel in the building. In 2021, a federal court granted Egypt partial judgment in an action to recover the premises. [2]

Scope and Evidence
Federal court opinions of August 24, 2021 and March 10, 2022 confirm Egypt Department of Defense ownership; DC changed 2590 L to 1005 26th Street. One building leased to a private hotel operator from September 2014 to August 2021. Do not duplicate address aliases or label it a current diplomatic office.
