Yi Hyeon-jik
Yi Hyeon-jik, whose name appears in Korean diplomatic records as 李玄稙, traveled to the United States in 1893 with Yi Seung-su and Chang Bong-hwan to take up work at the Washington legation. Their journey coincided with that of Korea's delegation to the Chicago exposition. 1
Yi later headed the legation in an acting capacity. In 1895 he returned to Korea: the government gazette announced his arrival and termination of his Washington appointment, while Foreign Minister Kim Yun-sik entertained him after his return. 2, 3, 4
