Pierre Vimont
Pierre Vimont's career concentrated on European and transatlantic diplomacy. He represented France at the European Union from 1999 to 2002, served as chief of staff to three foreign ministers, and became ambassador in Washington in 2007. 1
His Washington public diplomacy included discussion of NATO's future. In December 2008 he delivered opening remarks alongside German ambassador Klaus Scharioth at a conference preparing for the alliance's sixtieth anniversary summit. The meeting brought American and European policy specialists together to consider NATO's missions, partnerships, and capabilities. 2
