Oluf Stenersen

Oluf Stenersen worked at the Swedish–Norwegian mission in Constantinople before becoming minister in Washington. In the 1860s he negotiated a proposed exchange of the mission's property with a hotel enterprise. Foreign minister Ludvig Manderström authorized the plan, but the project failed to attract sufficient investors. 1

Stenersen then helped arrange a different solution: construction of a new minister's house, financed partly through a loan from an estate under his guardianship and rents from shops on the property. He obtained plans from architect Domenico Pulgher and took part in the contracts concluded in 1869. 1
