Johan Anton Wolff Grip
Johan Anton Wolff Grip was born in Bergen and entered the foreign service after completing legal studies. In 1882 he was sent to Hawaii to investigate complaints concerning Swedish and Norwegian emigrants there and on nearby islands. He returned through Japan, India, and the Suez Canal, later publishing an account of his journey as Rundt om jorden in 1884. 1
