Furkat Sidikov

Furkat Sidikov trained at Tashkent State Technical University, graduating in 1993, and initially worked for UzDaewoo Electronics. He then joined the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under Uzbekistan’s president. His Washington experience began well before he became ambassador: he served as an embassy attaché from 2002 to 2007, returned to the institute, and came back as first secretary from 2011 to 2015. ¹

After five years as ambassador to Pakistan, Sidikov became deputy foreign minister in 2020, responsible for relations with the Middle East, South Asia, and the Asia-Pacific region. As first deputy minister in 2022–2023, his portfolio included trade and investment and the legal framework for foreign relations. He returned to Washington as ambassador in 2023. ¹

In January 2026, Sidikov publicly outlined plans to expand Uzbekistan’s American consular network through new posts in Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington State. He connected the proposal to tourism, transport links, and services for the Uzbek diaspora. Addressing business representatives, he urged tour operators to develop trips suited to American visitors and to families seeking to introduce children born abroad to Uzbekistan’s language and heritage. ²
