Mauricio Yadarola
Mauricio Luis Yadarola was a Córdoba lawyer, university teacher, and Radical politician. Trained at the National University of Córdoba, he held its chair of commercial law and became vice-rector. He led the provincial Radical committee in the early 1940s and entered the national Chamber of Deputies in 1948 as part of the opposition bloc. His conflict with the Peronist majority included suspension from parliamentary sessions and the removal of his immunity in 1951. 1
Appointed ambassador by Pedro Eugenio Aramburu's provisional government in 1957, Yadarola worked on finance and investment disputes. In October he accompanied Banco de la Nación president Carlos Coll Benegas to the State Department and urged officials to consider the political effect of additional American lending before Argentina's forthcoming elections. He argued that assistance would strengthen supporters of close relations with Washington. American officials stressed the limits of public lending and the importance of settling outstanding disputes with private investors. 2
Yadarola told them that he had already met representatives of the American & Foreign Power Company and was collecting information for settlement proposals. His legal scholarship also continued to shape his public standing: he belonged to national academies, and the University of Córdoba published a three volume memorial collection after his death in 1960. 2, 1
