Arnaldo T. Musich
Arnaldo Tomás Musich was a lawyer, economic adviser, journalist, and business executive. He graduated from the University of Buenos Aires in 1948 and specialized in economics and finance. During Arturo Frondizi's presidency he advised the Foreign Ministry, accompanied international missions, and participated in negotiations involving Latin American trade and development institutions. He also directed the developmentalist weekly Causa. 1
Musich's later business career included senior positions within the Techint group and leadership of the Foundation for Latin American Economic Research. In 1976 he briefly served as ambassador to the United States for the new military government. His resignation raised questions about whether the embassy's economic team would also depart. In September, President Jorge Videla assured U.S. Ambassador Robert Hill that the team would remain and that economic policy would not change. 1, 2
His obituary described the resignation as officially personal while noting that it had been attributed to differences over human rights. Musich subsequently continued economic commentary and institutional work, including leadership of the Center for South Atlantic Studies. He died in 2006. 1
