Alejandro “Alec” Oxenford

Alejandro “Alec” Oxenford entered diplomacy after building technology companies and investing in new businesses. He studied business administration at the Catholic University of Argentina and earned an MBA at Harvard Business School. After working at Boston Consulting Group, he founded DeRemate and helped establish the online marketplaces OLX and letgo. Oxenford also supported contemporary Argentine art through his collection and participated in Endeavor Argentina and the economic and social council of Universidad Torcuato Di Tella. He joined President Javier Milei's advisory council before becoming ambassador to the United States. His appointment was initially made in commission in February 2025; after Senate approval, a June decree confirmed his rank and continuation in the Washington post. ^{1, 2}

Investment promotion was central to his embassy's public program. In March 2026 the embassy helped organize Argentina Week in New York with financial and business partners. Oxenford spoke at the opening reception and at a later program bringing investors together with Argentine governors and company leaders. The meetings presented opportunities in sectors including energy, mining, technology, agriculture, nuclear activities, and transport. ³
