Alexis Aminoff

Alexis Aminoff combined military, business, diplomatic, and court service. He joined the foreign ministry as an attaché in 1926, left for private business in 1928, and returned in 1938. After service in London he joined the Washington legation in 1943 as a senior secretary and counsellor. He also served as chamberlain to the Duke and Duchess of Västergötland. 1

Aminoff's later appointments took him to Athens in 1949 and then to the foreign ministry's personnel department. He represented Sweden in Pretoria from 1954 to 1959 and in Lisbon from 1959 to 1963, with concurrent accreditation to Monrovia for part of that period. He subsequently returned to ceremonial work, introducing foreign envoys and becoming chief master of ceremonies. 1
