Adam Christopher Lövenskiöld
Adam Christopher Løvenskiold was born in Norway and served in the joint Swedish–Norwegian foreign service. He belonged to a prominent Norwegian family: his father, Severin Løvenskiold, became Norway's governor. A contemporary Norwegian reference work identifies Adam as the first Norwegian to reach the service's highest diplomatic appointments. 1
His missions included Berlin, Washington, and The Hague, where he served as chargé d'affaires or resident minister. He left diplomatic service in 1858 after his final Hague appointment and later held senior office at the Norwegian court. 1
