His father, Manuel María de Zamacona y Morfi, had been foreign secretary and minister in Washington in the nineteenth century. The son was national treasurer by the time of his father's death in 1904.","Before his embassy appointment, Zamacona e Inclán administered Mexico's postal service. A January 1901 report in Regeneración recorded his order establishing a public complaints office, while criticizing its likely effectiveness. He also spoke at the 1902 groundbreaking for Mexico City's new post office building, part of the postal expansion associated with the Porfirian administration.","As ambassador in 1911 he sought American action against expeditions organized on United States territory for the fighting in Baja California. His note of 24 May specifically urged prosecution of Ricardo Flores Magón and associates. Its description of their activities as filibustering was the Mexican government's position in a contested revolutionary struggle.","He returned to Washington in September 1913 amid reports that he might reopen talks for Huerta's government or seek an American loan. Contemporary reporting placed him with chargé d'affaires Algara, but Zamacona described his visit as private business."],"id":"mexico:mx-manuel-maria-de-zamacona-e-inclan","identifiers":{},"legacyPersonIds":[],"legacyUrl":"https://chanceries.org/diplomat-6fd96bc8a73faabd3654.html","name":"Manuel María de Zamacona e Inclán","notes":[],"paragraphSources":[["zamacona-thesis"],["zamacona-post","zamacona-building"],["zamacona-baja"],["zamacona-1913"]],"profileUrl":"diplomat-6fd96bc8a73faabd3654.html","relatedEvents":[],"relatedPeople":[{"certainty":"documented","name":"Manuel María de Zamacona y Morfi","note":"Documented father–son relationship.","profileUrl":"diplomat-9ff25a1697f476285ef4.html","sourceIds":["zamacona-thesis"],"targetId":"mexico:mx-manuel-maria-de-zamacona-y-morfi","type":"family"}],"relationships":[{"certainty":"documented","note":"Documented father–son relationship.","sourceIds":["zamacona-thesis"],"targetId":"mexico:mx-manuel-maria-de-zamacona-y-morfi","type":"family"}],"researchStatus":"reviewed","reviewedOn":"2026-10-28","revision":"1ff8db995e90327a","sources":[{"accessedOn":"2026-10-28","date":"2011","id":"zamacona-thesis","locator":"Washington chapter and printed pp.137–139 (PDF pp.138–140)","publisher":"UNAM","title":"Ana Silvia Rábago Cordero, Manuel María de Zamacona, entre la ley y la realidad","type":"scholarship","url":"https://tesiunamdocumentos.dgb.unam.mx/ptb2011/mayo/0669192/0669192_A1.pdf"},{"accessedOn":"2026-10-28","date":"1901-01-31","id":"zamacona-post","locator":"Regeneración 24, article Inútil medida","publisher":"Archivo Electrónico Ricardo Flores Magón","title":"Inútil medida, Regeneración 24,31 January 1901","type":"primary-record","url":"https://archivomagon.net/obras-completas/articulos-periodisticos/ap1901-1-2/"},{"accessedOn":"2026-10-28","date":"2023","id":"zamacona-building","locator":"55(216),2023, p.426 (PDF p.20)","publisher":"Ciudad y Territorio Estudios Territoriales","title":"M.M.
