Trained at Peru’s National School of Agriculture and Veterinary Science and in sugar technology in New Orleans, he managed the Tumán estate before political exile in 1925. He then spent years in Britain, conducting business and representing Peru at economic and sugar conferences. He was also among the founding partners of Enrique Ferreyros y Compañía in 1922, a trading firm that later became a major machinery distributor.","His business background was explicit when he met Secretary of State George Marshall on 27 January 1948, accompanied by chargé Humberto Fernández-Dávila. Ferreyros described himself as coming to Washington from business rather than professional diplomacy. Marshall responded by discussing American demand for petroleum and the development of Latin American resources through investment. Ferreyros agreed.","Outside the embassy, Ferreyros’s career remained tied to export agriculture and commerce. After returning to Lima in 1938 he established Exportadora Peruana and served as its managing director. He participated in the Cotton Chamber and held several company directorships.
